What Is Interactive Content Anyway?
Jump ↓

Today, I wanted to talk to you about interactive content.  And I want to start by challenging you to an exercise. Don’t worry, you’re not going to feel sore afterwards.

Imagine you’re standing in a conference room marketing a product in front of a live audience. How would you know if the people in front of you are genuinely interested in what you have to say? Well, first of all you’d look at their body language.

But another great way to measure how well your audience responds to your message is by following their actions. Do they answer your questions? Do they have comments? Do they smile at your jokes?  If a person is not interacting, he or she is probably going to try and make a run for it.

Now let’s change the scenario. You’re no longer able to see your audience. How would you go about selling a product or a service? And more importantly, how do you measure your audience’s engagement?

You can’t see you your audience online and that’s what makes things tricky. But there are some things you can take from that conference room to make your audience take action online.

We call it interactive content.

What Is Interactive Content Anyway?

Simply put, it’s content your customers can interact with. It’s all about engaging your audience in an activity of your choice: Answering questions, exploring different scenarios, making decisions. You catch my drift.

It can be anything from a quiz to an interactive infographic or even a game. Surveys, assessments, calculators, contests, galleries and brackets also fit in this category. Which one will please your target audience?

So, Why Use It?

Remember one word: Engagement. You want it from your customers. You want it bad. The Internet is all about interaction. It’s important to understand that it’s not enough for your audience to just consume the content you provide.

You need to make sure your consumers enjoy and act upon it because this will be vital when it comes to your success as a marketer. Integrating interactive features into your marketing strategies will help you do better in this area.

Let’s take a look at some other benefits of interactive content:

  • Builds brand affinity
  • More clicks thanks to interactive calls-to-action.
  • Leads convert better.
  • It can help you get more and better data from your customers.
  • It’s fun. And your customers want to have fun.

People simply want to interact. It’s human nature. Creating content that is interactive is most likely going to involve more work on your part and more resources.

However, it’s something you should consider if you’re serious about taking your business to the next level.
