Great Lakes Water Authority Website

Great Lakes Water Authority gets a new web design and relaunches on WordPress. This municipal advisor needed a fresh, more engaging web platform to accomplish their growing mission to bring the nation’s best water and wastewater services to their southeast Michigan customers.

Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA) was looking to refresh their brand and web presence to better serve their growing list of communities and municipalities in southeast Michigan. This web design and development project was essential to modernizing how they inform and serve their customers and investors.

In partnership with Skidmore Studios, Kaleidico developed a custom WordPress theme and several custom modules to assist GLWA in quickly publishing and efficiently managing large amounts of communications, both urgent and informational.

Some of the more interesting features of this project include:

  • A slider that is dynamically populated with content and then allows the user several ways to view and navigate the latest news and announcements.
  • Custom content blocks that are fed content via dynamic feeds from other sections of the website–dynamically providing the most important and current information on a variety of different pages throughout the user experience.
  • Mega-menu navigation that allows the user to always get to whatever they need from every page. Since GLWA serves several different categories of customers from residences to investors, it was critical to have an intuitive and visually-driven navigation menu.
  • Integration to a variety of third-party portals and custom software. Because GLWA does serve a variety of different customers, there are several additional systems that needed to be seamlessly integrated into the user experience. One of these critical systems, the Customer Outreach Portal was built subsequently by Kaleidico as a custom intranet portal software project.

Great Lakes Water Authority was an excellent example of Kaleidico’s web development capabilities.

Our design agency partner, Skidmore Studios needed our advanced WordPress development capabilities to bring their creative vision to life. GLWA and Skidmore Studios required a pixel perfect design and a variety of custom features that required us to extend the capabilities of WordPress.

Following the project, GLWA continues to leverage Kaleidico’s full-service digital agency capabilities for ongoing service and maintenance, development, enhancement, and optimization of glwater.org.

This is one of Lauren’s favorite projects.
